UNDP launches the visualization “Local solutions, global goals: contributions to the SDG from the 2021 Global Mayor Challenge cities”.

UNDP launches the visualization “Local solutions, global goals“, inviting you to explore an interactive journey through the eight winning cities of 2021 Global Mayors Challenge: Amman (Jordan), Bogotá (Colombia) Butuan (Philippines ), Freetown (Sierra Leone),  Hermosillo (Mexico), Kigali (Rwanda), Kumasi (Ghana), and Rourkela (India). By aligning city‑level solutions with the SDG framework, the infographic illustrates the outsized impact that localized action can have on global challenges, while keeping the promise to “leave no one behind” firmly at its core. Packed with data‑rich visuals and human stories—from solar‑powered cold rooms run by women’s cooperatives to reachability maps that make urban services more equitable—this snapshot shows that when cities tailor solutions to local needs, their impact resonates far beyond their borders.

As the projects conclude in September 2025, UNDP has analyzed how the solutions implemented by these eight cities have contributed to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals and the 2030 Agenda. A comprehensive report assesses the impact of these city innovations within the context of the SDG framework and indicators.
