The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the Barcelona Provincial Council would like to invite you to “SDG Local Solutions” taking place on 7 and 8 November 2024, in Barcelona, Spain. The event focuses on sharing innovative solutions that local and regional governments are using to make Agenda 2030 a reality thanks to fresh approaches to public policy, service delivery, and community engagement.

The agenda will focus on the following themes that we consider crucial to advance innovation:

  • Innovating local public policies
  • How cities are creating livelihoods
  • How to finance local innovation
  • Visualizing innovation in cities
  • Effective procurement of public services

UNDP┬┤s different working groups on local and urban innovation will meet in Barcelona, bringing together local decision-makers, city managers, representatives from local government associations, UN agencies, think-thanks and civil and and private sector partners cities, to contribute with concrete ideas and identify emerging trends.

The event will be conducted in English, French, and Spanish, with Zoom remote access available, and select sessions broadcasted live. Additionally, a limited number of sponsorship opportunities are available to support travel and accommodation expenses for selected participants.

This event promises to serve as a platform for collaborative innovation, facilitating meaningful exchanges and driving actionable insights to advance the Sustainable Development Goals at the local level.

The event will coincide with the Smart City Expo World Congress, a global event that brings to Barcelona leaders, policymakers, and stakeholders to discuss urban innovation. In 2023, the event attracted 25,000 participants, 1,100 exhibitors and 800 cities from all over the world.
