Building on past editions, this year’s Forum will place special emphasis on how high-impact coalitions led by local and regional governments are driving progress on Agenda 2030. Focusing on the five SDGs under review at the 2024 HLPF: poverty eradication, hunger alleviation, climate action, peace, justice, and strong institutions, and partnerships for the Goals.

At the heart of discussions will be the role of Voluntary Local Reviews (VLRs) and Voluntary Subnational Reviews (VSRs) in driving policy transformation towards SDG attainment, alongside their synergy with Voluntary National Reviews (VNRs). As stakeholders converge, the LRGF will serve as a platform for the exchange of key messages and inputs towards both the Summit of the Future in September 2024 and the World Social Summit slated for 2025.

Bringing together local, regional, and national governments, alongside representatives from the United Nations and diverse stakeholders, the forum aims to galvanize support for high-impact localization policies, multilevel governance, and innovative financing mechanisms. With objectives centered on showcasing effective localization policies and fostering coalitions in alignment with the SDG Rescue Plan, the LRGF embodies a collective endeavor towards closing the gap in SDG implementation.
