The City of Johannesburg is the largest city in South Africa. It is the capital of the Gauteng Province and serves as the economic hub of the country, as well as the gateway to Southern Africa.
Agenda 2030 has become a central element for the city, with special focus on SDG 10 on reducing inequality and SDG 11 on achieving sustainable cities and communities. Through its vision of a “World Class African City of the Future,” the city aims to create a vibrant, equitable environment strengthened by diversity, provision of quality and sustainable livelihood, and a resilient and adaptive society.
