One of the major challenges

in the Pacific Islands, electricity access is limited in rural and remote island communities, and Vanuatu remains among the least electrified countries in the region. Many rural families still rely on small solar lanterns or expensive fossil-fuel generators, limiting access to education, healthcare, livelihoods, and economic opportunities. The Green Transition Project addresses this challenge by implementing clean, renewable off-grid energy systems, strengthening national and community capacities, and ensuring that women, youth, and people with disabilities are included in the energy transition.
