The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in El Salvador has launched the “Socioeconomic Map: Guide for the 44 New Municipalities of El Salvador”. This document offers a detailed statistical perspective on the new municipalities created under the Special Law for Municipal Restructuring.

The new structure brings challenges and opportunities for improved service delivery and sustainable development. The map, based on the 2023 Multi-Purpose Household Survey (EHPM) data, includes key indicators such as population, education, employment, public services, and remittances. It aims to address inequalities and enhance life quality in each area.
Key findings highlight disparities and specific needs, helping stakeholders such as governments, NGOs, and citizens manage territorial development effectively. The Socioeconomic Map is essential for planning and ensuring equitable growth in these municipalities.
