As climate threats grow more severe, a new three-part webinar series seeks to provide urban officials with practical strategies for tackling extreme heat and flooding.
Hosted by the World Resources Institute (WRI) alongside WRI India, UrbanShift, and Cities4Forests, the series begins on 5 February 2025, at 9:30 AM UTC.
Register for the series on Zoom
Webinars will be conducted in English, with French and Bahasa Indonesia interpretation.
Rising temperatures and severe weather require proactive solutions. Green roofs, urban forests, and permeable pavements help reduce risks, while tools like the Climate Hazard Vulnerability Assessment (CHVA) framework allow cities to identify vulnerabilities and prioritize actions.
Designed for city officials from the Global South and national urban development authorities, the series will include:
- An introduction to the CHVA framework to prioritize resilience actions in cities
- Nature-based solutions to tackle extreme heat in cities
- Nature-based solutions to mitigate urban flooding

This initiative promotes evidence-based urban resilience efforts, ensuring that cities are better prepared for climate challenges. For more details, contact John-Rob Pool john-rob.pool(at)wri.org
